After the proper blend has been achieved by mixing various varieties of coffee, the beans are ready to be roasted. This brings out their characteristic espresso flavour. Various roasts are possible, but generally a dark roast is used for espresso.

Piazza d’Oro is roasted according to Italian tradition. The Italian method involves a longer roasting time and uniform exposure to heat. The coffee beans are therefore equally roasted from the outside to the inside. Slowly roasted beans give coffee its mild and aromatic flavour. This process of slow roasting is used in the factories that produce Piazza d’Oro coffee to ensure its quality and characteristic taste.
